Dr. Stephan Dunn
Principal Geoscientist
About
Dr Stephan Dunn is a registered Professional Natural Scientist (SACNASP) and Principal Geologist at Remote Exploration Services. He holds a PhD in Geology from Stellenbosch University (2021), where his doctoral research focused on Neoproterozoic copper-gold mineralisation and orogenic gold systems along the southwestern margin of the Tanzania Craton; work that produced five peer-reviewed publications in leading international geoscience journals.
Since joining RES, Stephan has led and overseen exploration programmes spanning greenfields through brownfields across a broad range of African metallogenic provinces, with a technical focus on sediment-hosted copper, orogenic gold, and structurally-controlled Cu-Au-Ag deposits. His project experience spans the Kalahari Copperbelt, Central African Copperbelt, Damara Belt and Arabian-Nubian Shield, among others.
In his current role, he oversees technical project planning, peer review, client reporting and QAQC, while driving internal R&D initiatives and knowledge-sharing across the RES geoscience team. He is a member of the Society of Economic Geologists (SEG) and the Geological Society of South Africa (GSSA).
